John, “Jack” “Murph” MURPHY, Sr.
John, “Jack”, “Murph” Murphy, on Mar. 31, 2017, age 88, a life long resident of Broomall. Jack worked
as a Police Dispatcher for the Marple Twp. Police Dept. for over 35 years, retiring in 1999. He
was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church, now New Hope Christian Church in Broomall.
Murph was an Honorary member of the Marple Ambulance Corp, but also a life time member of
the Broomall Fire CO. as Fire Police, and a member of POOP, (Police Offices on Pension).
Beloved husband of Emma (nee Plank), whom he married on Spt. 16, 1950., devoted father of
Jacqueline Horner of Exton, Janet (Ralph) Brescia of Newtown Square,, Judy Kerber of
Broomall, John (Beth) Murphy, Jr. of Wilmington, DE, Jean Mandell of Somers Point, NJ, also
survived by ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, he was predeceased by his brother
David.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service on Sat. at 11:00AM at New
Hope Christian Church, Sproul and Paxon Hollow Rd., Broomall, where friends may call after
9:30AM. Memorials may be sent in his name to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 N. Broad
