Donald A. Greenhall, 84, of Garnet Valley, PA, formerly of Rockville Centre, NY died peacefully on January 1, 2013.
Pre-deceased by his wife of 55 years, Irene Leav Greenhall.
Donald worked for decades at Imperial Paper Box Corp, retiring in 1983 as production manager, but continuing as a consultant.
A lifelong volunteer fireman, he was a member of Defenders Hose Company No.1 in Rockville Centre, at various times serving as Captain of the RVC Fire Police, Captain of the Defenders, and overseeing the Fire Department steering committee. He was named Honorary Chief in 2004.
Before moving to Delaware County he also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and served on the board of Island Harvest, similar to Philabundance. In his youth, he was an Eagle Scout. Upon moving to Garnet Valley Donald joined the Concordville Fire Company. Donald and Irene loved their life in Delaware County and could never thank their friends and neighbors enough for their warmth and generosity.
Survivors: Daughters, Diana G. Newby and husband David of Naperville, IL, and Audrey L. Greenhall and husband George Chressanthis of Media, PA, grandchildren, Andrea and Meredith Newby, Emily and William Chressanthis.
Services: A private memorial celebration will be held at a later date.
