Ronald L. “Bub” Jones, 62

Ronald L. “Bub” Jones, 62, of Aston, a retired truck driver, died Aug. 28 at home.

Born in Media, Mr. Jones graduated from Media High School in 1966. He lived in Media until moving to Aston 28 years ago.

Mr. Jones worked as a truck driver for Acme until retiring in 2000. He then worked in the transportation department for the Rose Tree Media School District for 10 years.

Mr. Jones served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and others awards. He was a member of the Aston Township Veterans Memorial Garden Committee, Delaware County Vietnam Veterans Chapter No. 67, American Legion Post No. 926 in Aston and a life member of the 25th Infantry.

Mr. Jones visited local high schools throughout the Tri-State area to educate students about the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Aston Township Citizen of the Year Award in 2010 and was honored for his service to his country at the State Capital by State Rep. Steven Barrar, R-160, of Upper Chichester.

Mr. Jones served 26 years at the Aston Beechwood Fire Co., where he was a former president. He was also a member of the Delaware County Fire Police, Aston Township Planning Commission, the Lima Fire Co. and Fellowship Church in Concord.

He was the son of the late Harry and Charlotte Skinner Jones.

Survivors: Wife of 42 years, Cathy Miley Jones; daughters, Trisha Carr of Aston, Samanthe Jones of Aston; Rabecka Jones of Aston; sons, Tom Jones of West Grove, Chester County, Mikell Jones of Aston, Kene Jones of Aston, Scott Jones of Claymont, Del., Danne Jones of Aston; sister, Lynn Lee of Media; six grandchildren.

Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown.

Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Private.
